Merle O'Neill:
Receives Clean Water Champion Award

San Diego County's Project Clean Water at the July 7, 2005 Summit confered five Clean Water Champion Awards. Merle Okino O'Neill Outreach Education Chair of the CWN was given an individual award for the exemplary programs that she has designed to address the conservation, preservation, protection and interpretation of Carlsbad Watershed's natural resources. These are Communities Alive In Nature an applied science program in the Carlsbad Unified School District; a Watershed Stewards Training for the development of citizen monitoring of our streams; and Project NIIMBY, a call to action for citizen involvement in controlling invasive plants.
