On July 19 and 20th, the Carlsbad Watershed Network launches " No Invasives In My Back Yard" (NIIMBY) and announces the first recipients of the NIIMBY 2005 Weed Warrior Award.
The Project NIIMBY launch is a part of the Statewide Celebration of California Weed Awareness Week, July 18-24, 2005. In June 2003, the CA State Legislature adopted resolution (ACR No. 114) that designates the third Monday of July as Weed Awareness Week.
The Weed Warrior Award is given to cities, agencies, and non-profits, and individuals who actively support the effort to rid the Carlsbad Hydrologic Unit of invasive plant species and who further the mission and goals of the Carlsbad Watershed Network clean water and natural habitat within the Carlsbad Hydrologic Unit. With the Weed Warrior Award, we hereby thank and recognize their support, contribution, and hard work on behalf of all of residents.
